Once your baby starts progressing from milk onto solid foods, you will start to face the dilemma of what to cook or what kind of baby food to purchase.

If you have your heart set on making your baby his own natural, healthy food, there are plenty of recipes out there that are nutritious and fairly quick to whip up.

How about a tasty mango, carrot and apple puree? In addition to being a great source of beta carotene and fibre, this combination is delicious - you might even go for a fingerful yourself!

Carrots contain significant amounts of vitamin A, vitamin K, fibre and vitamin C among other nutrients.Mango is delicious and a great source of vitamin A, vitamin C and calcium.

Apples are great for getting fibre, vitamin C and regulating blood sugar, so are another great addition to a nutritious diet. The apple's sweet, juicy flavour is likely to please your baby's taste buds.

Head to your local supermarket, veggie store or farmer's market and buy some carrots, mangoes and apples. Buy more than you need during this trip so you can make some extra portions to freeze!

Put a pot of water on to boil, and then peel all three ingredients and chop them into small pieces.

Steam your carrots over the boiling water for approximately three minutes before adding the apple and mango. Leave these to cook for a further two minutes, or until the ingredients feel soft and tender. Take your mixture off the heat.

Place your cooked ingredients into a blender or food processor and let it work its magic until the food is smoothly mixed together. Once it has cooled sufficiently, you can serve it to your baby and freeze your leftovers.
