The sunshine these last few days was a gift after the horrid days we've had lately. The rain seemed to have exhausted it's supplies, and even the wind took some time off after a busy week. Like a miracle, the sun came up with all the heat it could muster and the temperature rose. I was so excited to play outside again. I'm always at a loss for things to do when the weather is bad and the kids are home from school. It's not that I don't enjoy being with them, it's just that there are only so many cookies we can bake. And fuzzy felt doesn't have the same allure it once did. Playstation is my children's activity of choice, but I hate the damned thing. If they could, they'd shoot zombies all day and night. If it wasn't for my insisting on them eating and drinking every three hours or so, they'd probably wither away in the rumpus room, and love every minute of it. So, you can imagine my relief when I woke to see the sun peeking through my curtains, with an invitation to games and a picnic in the park. My children were horrified at the mere suggestion of leaving the house, but as the Mummy and Keeper of the Treats Box, I have the means to get exactly what I want. It's quite astounding what one Freddo can buy these days! We ran, we rode, we climbed and we rolled. Some of us whinged a little, but there's nothing a good tickling can't fix. We lay in the sun, and had cuddles in the grass. We got muddy and sticky, and quite a bit messy. But by golly, we had fun! No zombies died that day however, so do be careful, if you're in the area.
