What's in Store?

When we met Kevin Allman from the aptly called Store, we were intrigued. How did b.box fit with this storage super store? Well it is the ultimate in clever storage for mums and dads of course and has proven extremely popular with Store customers. Here we meet the man behind Store.

1. How long have you been in business? Store commenced operation on November 2006 opening our first store in Ballarat in November 2007.
2. What did you do before you started your business? I was a corporate retailer for 17 years and one of a handful of people who started Officeworks in Australia.
3. What makes your business unique? Store is the only Superstore in Australia solely dedicated to the storage and organisation category. We present storage and organisation solutions to our customers to make their lives easier!
4. What do you love most about what you do? Meeting and helping new suppliers such as yourself…… buying innovative, funky, new products and helping people to organise themselves so they can enjoy life…. and be less stressed.
5. Where’s your favourite way of sourcing new products? Visiting factories for the first time and seeing new products come to market. e.g. I was in Vietnam just last week sourcing a new and great range of storage furniture.
6. What’s your favourite time of the day? When I walk through the front door of an evening and my eldest daughter greets me.
7. What’s the best piece of parenting advice you’ve ever received? One guy I knew who like me spent too long overseas and not enough time at home once told me not to make the same mistake as children grow up way too fast! So I took his advise and left corporate retail to spend more time at home and in the country.
8. If you could become any character from a children’s story, who would you be and why? The Road Runner. Never stand still for too long or others will catch up!
9. Who inspires you? Entrepreneurs! Like b. box…. The thousands of small business operators out there who are prepared to risk everything to fulfill a dream.
10. Who lives under your roof? My wife Amelia, my daughters Hannah and Olivia and a dog named Bru!
